The Ultimate Margaret River Lunch Stop: Olio Bello
Margaret River Is About More Than Wineries
There is no shortage of memorable places to eat in the Margaret River region. Between winery restaurants, breweries, farm gates and town cafés, choosing one lunch stop can be surprisingly difficult.
For Linley and me, Olio Bello is the easy answer. We love having lunch there, and it has become our favourite place for a relaxed Margaret River lunch. That personal recommendation is why it deserves a place in this guide.
You will find the farm at 36 Armstrong Road, Cowaramup, only a short drive from Gracetown and about 15 minutes from Margaret River town.
More Than a Café

Olio Bello is a 320-acre certified organic olive farm with more than 8,000 olive trees across 12 groves. The property brings together a café, tasting room, farm shop, organic beauty range and lakeside accommodation.
The setting is a large part of the experience. You can enjoy lunch surrounded by olive trees, then visit the tasting room and farm shop without rushing back into the car.
What to Expect at Lunch

Olio Bello describes its café as a relaxed, Mediterranean-style farm-to-table experience. Its menu changes, so dishes mentioned in older reviews may not be available when you visit. For that reason, it is best to check the current café information rather than arriving for one particular dish.
When pizza appears on the menu, it is our personal favourite. However, the real appeal is choosing from the current seasonal offerings and enjoying the farm setting. Coffee, farm-baked cakes and lunch are available at different times during the day.
The café offers indoor gazebo dining and outdoor tables under the olive trees when weather permits. It is fully licensed, and online bookings are available.
Allow Time for the Tasting Room and Farm Shop

Before or after lunch, visit the tasting room to explore Olio Bello’s estate-grown, pressed and infused olive oils. The official tasting-room information currently lists opening hours of 10am to 4:30pm, seven days a week.
The farm shop also carries olive oils, olives, preserves, sauces, gourmet products and the Olio Organics beauty range. Product availability changes, so treat this as an opportunity to see what is being made and stocked during your visit.
Who Will Enjoy Olio Bello?
- Couples: The olive-grove setting suits a slow, relaxed lunch away from the busier town centre.
- Families: The casual farm atmosphere can be easier for families than formal winery dining, although parents should check current facilities and menu options before visiting.
- Food lovers: The café and tasting room provide an opportunity to experience the farm’s olive oils and gourmet products in the place where they are produced.
- Visitors travelling with dogs: Dogs are welcome only in the outdoor courtyard and deck dining areas, except for assistance dogs. Contact the café if you have specific requirements.
Stay Longer at Olio Bello
Olio Bello also operates Lakeside Glamping, with 16 safari-style bungalows positioned around the lake. The accommodation is designed for visitors who want to stay on the farm while remaining close to Gracetown, Cowaramup and nearby wineries.
The bungalows are not pet-friendly. Accommodation details, inclusions and availability can change, so check the official glamping page before booking.
